Women’s Soccer Falls to Saint Joseph’s (Ind.) in Home Opener

CHICAGO – The Chicago State University women's soccer team kicked off its home slate this afternoon at the Ray and Joan Kroc Corp Stadium, but fell to visiting Saint Joseph's (Ind.) by a score of 4-0.
 
The Pumas took a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute of the first half when Kennedy Hathaway tallied a goal after receiving a corner kick from Kate Hickner and the lead would stay through intermission.
 
Hathaway struck again in the 56th minute after getting another pass from Hickner and converted a shot in front of the goal to increase SJC's leading margin at 2-0. The visitors added two more goals in the 82nd and 89th minutes to provide the final tally.
 
Sophomore Vialy Garcia-Hernandez (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell) tallied three shots and freshman Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) recorded six saves in goal for the Green and White.
 
The Cougars continue their three-match homestand at Kroc Stadium on Friday, Sept. 4 against South Dakota with the opening kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
