CHICAGO, Ill. - The NEC has announced their winners of the weekly women's soccer honors for the week beginning of October 27. The Cougars had two players awarded with weekly honors. Freshman goalkeeper
Aviana Gutierrez (Waco, Texas) was named the NEC Rookie of the Week and Prime Performer. While
Jacqueline Kambere (Melbourne, Austraila) won here first NEC Prime Performer honor.
It was a stellar week for
Aviana Gutierrez as earned Rookie of the Week and Prime Performer honors for the second time this season (9/8/25). Gutierrez has gone 3-0 dating back to October 19 with wins over Howard, New Haven, and Saint Francis. Across the last two games from this week, she made 10 saves combined. She also logged her second shutout win of the season and her third shutout overall. Her goalkeeping has been an important role in the Cougars current three game winning streak.

Jacqueline Kambere made her mark this week for Chicago State scoring her first career goal and her career assist for Chicago State which earned her Prime Performer honors. Kambere's role has increased lately for Coach Kevin Larry as she has seen an increased role for the Cougars with 226 minutes over the last three games. Kambere scored her first career goal against the New Haven Chargers and then backed that up with an assist against the Saint Francis Red Flash this past Sunday to help preserve the two wins for the Cougars.
Gutierrez, Kambere and the rest of the Chicago State women's soccer team will look to keep their momentum rolling as they return to action this Thursday October 30 as they battle Mercyhurst University for Senior Night from Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep Academy. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM from Brooks Field.
