CHICAGO – Chicago State baseball surrendered eight runs over the final three innings as UW-Milwaukee rallied to defeat the Cougars 12-8 in a non-conference contest at Cougar Stadium on Tuesday (April 1).
The Cougars opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning with a four spot. The big hit was a 2-RBI triple by junior
Robert Swenson (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City). He then came around to score on an infield hit by junior
Nathan Poff (Sellersburg, Ind./New Albany), giving the Cougars their fourth run of the inning.
The 4-0 lead didn't last an inning. Milwaukee earned their own four spot in the top of the fifth to tie the game. Chicago State took the lead again with a single run in the fifth.
CSU took this 5-4 lead to the top of the seventh. Milwaukee had just one runner on with two outs in the seventh when the Panthers broke the game open. The next eight batters reached base. A bases loaded double by Mike Porcaro and a home run by Pat Wilson changed the game in two consecutive swings of the bat. The Cougars left the top of the seventh down 10-5.
Justin Jaquish earned the win for Milwaukee to move his record to 1-1. He allowed one run in 4.2 innings of relief. Junior
Aveeno Nasiloski (Hammond, Ind./Gavit) took the loss, allowing five runs in 2.2 innings. His record is now 0-1.

Chase Matheson (McHenry, Ill./McHenry) finished with two runs and two RBI for Chicago State. Juniors
Mattingly Romanin (Burlington, ONT/Notre Dame) and
Julian Russell (Chicago, Ill./Gordon Tech) each had two hits.
Milwaukee improves to 6-12. Chicago State falls to 9-14. The Cougars return to action on Friday in a Western Athletic Conference contest against Utah Valley at 6 p.m.
