AUBURN, Ala. – The Chicago State baseball team traveled to SEC country and dropped the first game of a three-game series with the Auburn Tigers, 6-0 at Plainsman Park. It was a tough night from the plate for the Cougars as
Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Marcoris, Dominican Republic) had the lone hit in the contest.
Dylan Cumming (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) pitched 6.2 innings of work with four strikeouts.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Tigers took a 2-0 lead. The Cougars had an opportunity in the fourth inning. With a walk to open the inning from
Reggie Brock Jr. (Chicago, Ill./Simeon), the Cougars had a baserunner. Brock stole second and with a
Dalton Daily (Visalia, California/) walk Chicago State had a runner in scoring position but back-to-back strikeouts ended the inning leaving two stranded.
The Cougars wouldn't get another runner on base until the seventh inning with a
Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Marcoris, Dominican Republic) single. Paulino moved to second with an
Anthony Urso (Brooksville, Florida/) out and the inning ended with a ground out and a strikeout.
