BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – Chicago State men's golf wrapped up play at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate on Tuesday, showing steady improvement throughout the 54-hole event hosted at Point O'Woods Golf & Country Club.
The Cougars carded their best team round on the final day, highlighted by
Kaleb Lambert, who paced CSU with a three-round total of 234 (+18). Lambert battled tough course conditions to post two consistent opening rounds of 76 and 76 before closing with an 82 to finish tied for 67th in the competitive Division I field.
Jose Monge delivered one of the team's most consistent closing stretches, posting his best score of the week in the final round with a 78 after rounds of 85 and 81, finishing at 28-over for the tournament.
Sahil Nathoo also gained valuable experience, bouncing back from a tough opening round to post rounds of 75 and 76 to close out his debut at +27.
Mason Fears showed steady growth, saving his best golf for the final day with a closing 81 after rounds of 84 and 86, while
Richie Rodriguez battled through all three rounds to complete his first full collegiate 54-hole event.
As a team, Chicago State showed grit and growth while competing against a strong field of programs from across the Midwest and beyond. The event provided another valuable opportunity for the Cougars to build momentum as they continue their fall season.
Chicago State now turns its attention to the next stop on its fall schedule, looking to build on the experience gained at Point O'Woods.
