CHICAGO – The Chicago State baseball team heads to Colorado this weekend to continue its six-game road swing with a three-game non-conference series against host Air Force at Falcon Field.
 
The series opens tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. followed by a Saturday afternoon showdown at 3 p.m. and the final game will be play on Sunday at 12 p.m.
 
CSU brings a 9-33 record into this weekend's series after falling to Northwestern by a score of 9-7 Tuesday afternoon following its Western Athletic Conference series win over Northern Colorado at Cougar Stadium last weekend.
 
Junior infielder Tyler Lowe (Northville, Mich./Northville) leads the Green and White with 31 runs batted in, seven home runs and two triples at the plate while hitting .352 and recording a team-leading 234 defensive putouts. Senior outfielder Matt Paciello (Wellington, Fla./Park Vista) is second on the team with a .322 batting average and 10 doubles. Senior right hander Robert Gutierrez (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) leads the Cougar pitching staff with a 4-2 record on the mound, and freshman righty Dylan Cumming (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) is tied with senior left hander Zach Thomas (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) for the team lead with 49 strikeouts on a team-best 58.1 innings thrown.
 
Air Force enters the series sporting a record of 20-24 after dropping an 8-5 road decision at the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs on Tuesday night that concluded a four-game road swing.
 
Junior catcher Rob Dau leads the Falcons in hitting with a .361 batting average and 66 hits, while junior infielder Nic Ready posted team highs of 48 RBIs, 14 home runs and 14 doubles. Senior right hander Nick Biancalana is the top pitcher for AF with a 3-1 record and a 2.27 earned run average followed by senior lefty Ryan Holloway throwing a team-best 42 strikeouts.
 
The Cougars continue their road swing on Tuesday afternoon with an in-state battle against Eastern Illinois in downstate Charleston starting at 3 p.m.
