CHICAGO -

This Week: Chicago State women's soccer continues its nine-game road swing with a pair of in-state battles this weekend. The Green and White head to Rogers Park on Chicago's north side tomorrow night to take on host Loyola in a live ESPN3 broadcast beginning at 7 p.m. Two days later, the Cougars travel to Macomb, Ill., to take on host Western Illinois starting at 1 p.m.

Scouting the Cougars: Chicago State brings a 1-7 record into this weekend's slate following last week's contests where it fell to Green Bay (1-4) and Portland State (0-8). Sophomore midfielder Mariela Alba (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) leads the Green and White in scoring with three points on a goal and an assist, while senior forward Sara Marcotte (Republic, Mo./Republic) and freshman defender Samantha Noonan (Ottawa, Ontario/Saint Francis Xavier) have each scored two points on a goal. Senior goalkeeper Gabby Klemp (Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer) leads CSU with 31 saves on the season.

Scouting the Ramblers: Winners of four of its last five games since Aug. 27, Loyola heads into tomorrow's showdown with a 5-3 season record after posting a 3-2 home win over Indiana State and a 3-0 shutout win at Iowa last week. Senior forward Katie Grall leads LUC in scoring with 11 points on four goals and a three assists, while junior forward Jenna Szczesny has posted a team-leading five goals scored and senior goalie Maddie Ford has produced 32 saves with a 1.44 goals against average.

Loyola History: The Cougars and the Ramblers are meeting for the second time on the soccer field with Loyola holding a 1-0 advantage. Last season, LUC claimed a 7-0 home win over the Green and White on Sept. 23, 2016 with Klemp producing six saves in the contest.

Scouting the Fighting Leathernecks: Concluding a six-game road trip tomorrow at Ball State, Western Illinois has amassed a record of 0-6 following a pair of close road defeats last weekend at Kentucky (0-1) and Eastern Illinois (1-2). Sophomore forward/midfielder Stacie Wolfgram leads WIU with a goal and two points, and sophomore goalkeeper Ines Palmiero Herrera has recorded 28 saves and a goals against average of 2.11.

Western Illinois History: This will serve as the second lifetime showdown between CSU and Western Illinois as the Fighting Leathernecks hold a 1-0 series lead following a 3-1 victory at Kroc Stadium on Aug. 21, 2016.

Movin' On Up: In just a season and a half, Alba currently finds herself sitting on second place in CSU's career record book after scoring her first goal of the season last Friday at Green Bay. She has totaled 10 points as a Cougar in addition to sitting in a tie for second place all-time in assists with two helpers.
