This Week: Chicago State women's soccer continues its nine-game road swing with a pair of in-state games this weekend. The Cougars head to the west side of Chicago tomorrow night to battle host UIC with a start time of 7 p.m. then travel to downstate Charleston two days later to face off against rival Eastern Illinois beginning at 12 p.m.

Scouting the Cougars: CSU brings a 1-3 record into this weekend's slate of contests after kicking off its road swing last weekend with a 1-0 shutout win at Saint Xavier last Friday followed by a 9-0 defeat at Campbell on last Sunday afternoon. Senior forward Sara Marcotte (Republic, Mo./Republic) tallied the Green and White's first goal of the season and sophomore midfielder Mariela Alba (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) has recorded an assist. Senior goalkeeper Gabby Klemp (Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer) leads the team with 18 saves on the year.

Scouting the Flames: UIC holds a 0-4 record so far this season after opening its three-game homestand Wednesday night with a close 2-1 double overtime defeat to Northern Illinois. The Flames are led by sophomore forward Tamae Douglas and junior midfielder Rebecca Pallo, who have each recorded a goal and two points this season, while senior goalkeeper Kelly Fritz has tallied team highs of 19 saves and a goals against average of 1.93.

UIC History: This marks the second time that Chicago State and UIC have met on the soccer field with the Flames leading the newly-minted series by a 1-0 margin. UIC posted a 6-1 in in the teams' first meeting on Sept. 18, 2016 with sophomore midfielder Taylor Rankin (Dearborn, Mich./Edsel Ford) scoring a goal and Klemp producing 10 saves in goal.

Scouting the Panthers: Playing at Valparaiso tomorrow, Eastern Illinois enters the weekend with a 2-1-1 mark on the young season and look to rebound from having its three-game unbeaten streak snapped at the hands of Milwaukee last Sunday by a score of 2-0. The Panthers' leading scorer is sophomore forward Sarah DeWolf with two goals and four points. Sophomore goalkeeper Sara Teteak has posted an .824 save percentage and a 0.71 GAA with two shutouts.

EIU History: Sunday's game will be the fourth lifetime meeting between CSU and EIU with the Panthers holding a 3-0 series advantage. Both teams battled each other tough at Kroc Stadium last season on Sept. 2, 2016 with Eastern capturing a close 2-1 double overtime win.

Making School History: The Cougars made some history in last Friday's game at Saint Xavier as they produced the first shutout win in program history, while junior goalkeeper Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) became the first CSU goalie to record an individual shutout win by tallying two saves.

Up Next: CSU continues its road swing on Sept. 8 at Green Bay with the opening kickoff set for 3 p.m.
