CSU Tennis Adds Three Players to 2016-17 Rosters

CHICAGO – Chicago State Tennis head coach Jack Barton has announced the recent addition of three student-athletes to its men's and women's rosters for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
 
Joining the women's team will be junior Mariya Kostyuk (Kyiv, Ukraine/International School) and freshman Judit Aubets (Major, Sanauja, Spain/Lluis Peguera), while freshman Maurice Scheich (Hessen, Germany/Modelschule Obersberg) is the lone newcomer on the men's team.
 
Kostyuk comes to the Green and White after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Southeast Missouri State, where she primarily competed at No. 1 singles and doubles. She finished with a 10-13 singles record as a sophomore in 2015-16 for SEMO.
 
Albets has competed in three junior tournaments (Monzon, La Bisbal and Valldolid) in her native Spain this year. She will be one of three Spaniards on this season's squad along with junior Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) and sophomore Monica Pulgar (Madrid, Spain/San Jose de Cluny).
 
Scheich competed in the Hessenliga, the highest German Junior League, during the 2015-16 season in addition to playing in several tournament in the Tretorn Tour. He advanced to the men's quarterfinals in the tour and earned U18 district championship second-place finishes (indoor and outdoor).
 
The Cougars will kick off their 2016-17 season in September.
