BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Chicago State University fell to LIU with a final score of 0-4 on Saturday. The Cougars were unable to secure any wins in both singles and doubles matches, with all singles matches at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 positions ending in ties.
LIU secured the doubles point with victories across all three courts. At No. 1 doubles, Bassil Touban and James Vincent defeated
Yurii Hoida and
Joao Teixeira of CSU, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, LIU's Jack Brimm and Victor Sjostrom overcame
Reed Gahagan and
Andrew Kunaka, 6-2. The No. 3 doubles match was won by default by LIU's Daniel and Jason Lemmon-Warde.
In singles play, LIU continued its dominance. Touban claimed a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Hoida at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Vincent defeated Teixeira with a scoreline of 6-5, 6-3. Brimm earned a win at No. 3 singles, overcoming Kunaka, 6-3, 6-4.
The momentum for LIU carried through the other singles matches. Jason Lemmon-Warde secured a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Gahagan at No. 4 singles, and Sjostrom won 6-1, 6-2 over
Justin Atkins at No. 5 singles. The No. 6 singles match was won by default by Daniel Lemmon-Warde. LIU finished the day with a comprehensive victory over the Cougars.
