Men's Tennis Falls to FDU on Final Game of East Coast Road Trip

TEANECK, N.J. - Chicago State University fell to Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) 2-5 on Sunday. The Cougars secured singles victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions and claimed the top doubles match.

CSU dropped the doubles point to FDU after completing matches on three courts. Yurii Hoida and Joao Teixeira secured a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles over Gryffin Minor and Benjamin Wrann. However, FDU evened the score at No. 2 doubles, where Tauras Mickus and Nate Roberman defeated Reed Gahagan and Andrew Kunaka, 6-2. The doubles point was clinched by FDU at No. 3 doubles, as Arya Prabhu and Tze En Gareth Ong won by default.

In singles action, CSU initially struggled, with Teixeira falling to Mickus at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-3, and Gahagan losing to Wrann at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Hoida provided a response for the Cougars by winning at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 7-5, against Minor, bringing the running dual score to 1-3.

Kunaka kept Chicago State's hopes alive by defeating Jorge Alonso-Cortes at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2, narrowing FDU's lead to 3-2. However, FDU clinched the match with Asaf Schwartz's victory over Justin Atkins at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1. The final dual score was 4-2 in favor of FDU after Roberman won by default at No. 6 singles.
