YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Chicago State University fell to Mercyhurst 6-1 on Friday. CSU secured its lone singles victory at the No. 1 position and claimed a win in the No. 1 doubles match.

Yurii Hoida and
Joao Teixeira secured a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles over Colm Schultz and Petar Belosevic. However,
Andrew Kunaka and
Reed Gahagan were defeated 6-2 at No. 2 doubles by Danylo Rekun and Lukas Cabue Valverde. The match at No. 3 doubles was decided administratively, resulting in a 1-0 win for Mercyhurst.
In singles play,
Yurii Hoida put the Cougars on the board with a straight-sets victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Lukas Cabue Valverde 6-4, 7-5.
Joao Teixeira battled through three sets at No. 2 singles but ultimately fell to Petar Belosevic, 6-4, 0-6, 10-6. Colm Schultz overcame
Andrew Kunaka in a tense match at No. 3 singles, ending 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.
At No. 4 singles,
Reed Gahagan was unable to overcome Mykhailo Polishchuck, losing 6-2, 6-1. Chicago State's
Justin Atkins was defeated by Nikola Radisic at No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 result. The final singles match at No. 6 was another administrative finish, with David Mengher securing a 1-0 win for Mercyhurst. The final score saw Mercyhurst triumph 6-1 over the Cougars.
