Box Score
BELLEVUE, Wash. – Chicago State baseball closed out its Western Athletic Conference weekend series at Seattle today after dropping an 11-1 decision in seven innings at Bannerwood Park. It was also the final road game of the 2015 season for the Cougars.

The visitors opened a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after senior Mattingly Romanin (Burlington, ONT/Notre Dame) blasted a solo home run of SU starting pitcher Tarik Skubal to left field. The homer was Romanin's team-leading seventh of the season. The Redhawks came back with three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Griffin Andreychuk.

Landon Cray hit a two-run home run in the second inning to hike the home team's lead to 5-1 and SU added two more runs in the fifth inning that made the score 7-1.

The Redhawks scored four runs in the seventh inning to provide the final margin as Brock Carpenter and Colin Peterson recorded RBI singles during the rally.

Romanin and senior Robert Swenson (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City) each hit 2-for-3 to lead CSU offensively. Senior Tyler Abbott (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) fell to 1-6 on the year after giving up four runs on seven hits in an inning of work, while fellow classmate Aveeno Nasiloski (Hammond, Ind./Gavit) threw two-thirds of an inning of scoreless relief for the Green and White.

Chicago State returns to Cougar Stadium next weekend for its final WAC series of the season against Bakersfield beginning with the first game on Thursday, May 14 at 5 p.m.
