Tournament WebsiteCHICAGO - The Chicago State men's tennis team has earned the fifth seed in the 2014 Western Athletic Conference Tournament hosted by New Mexico State University from April 25-27. The Cougars will play fourth seeded University of Missouri Kansas City on Friday, April 25 at 1 p.m. (MT). The Cougars are 5-21 on the year while Kansas City is 7-14. The winner of the matchup will face top seeded New Mexico State on Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. (MT). All matches will be played at the NMSU Tennis Center.
Several Cougars have earned double digit singles victories on the season. Junior
Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador/) leads the team with 14 singles wins. Junior
Sergiu Muresan (Roman, Romania/) is close behind with 13 singles victories. Juniors
Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/) and
Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) also reached the double digit plateau with ten singles victories each. Muresan leads the team with 11 doubles victories.
Six WAC teams will be participating in the tournament. The winner will earn the WAC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
