MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Chicago State University (1-12) fell to Middle Tennessee (16-6) with a 7-0 loss on Monday at the Adams Tennis Complex. The Cougars were unable to secure a win in either singles or doubles matches, as Middle Tennessee swept all competitions.
Middle Tennessee secured the doubles point with victories at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Jonasz Dziopak and Eric Crivei defeated
Joao Teixeira and
Andrew Kunaka, 6-0, at No. 1 doubles, while Antoine Mayoral and Birtan Duran clinched at No. 2 doubles with a 6-0 win over
Reed Gahagan and
Yurii Hoida.
In singles, Middle Tennessee extended its lead with a decisive win at No. 1 singles, as Duran overcame Hoida, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 2 singles, Crivei edged past Teixeira in a three-set battle, 6-1, 3-6, 10-4, adding another point for Middle Tennessee. Mayoral then secured a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Kunaka at No. 3 singles.
Santiago Lora contributed to the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Gahagan at No. 4 singles. Rich LaLance followed with a 6-1, 6-0 result over
Justin Atkins at No. 5 singles.
