List of all ITA Academic Awards
CHICAGO – The Chicago State University tennis programs have been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for their work in the classroom during the 2012-13 academic year.
"Any academic honor is a reflection of the team's commitment to academic excellence," Chicago State tennis head coach Jack Barton said. "But they're helped by a fantastic academic support staff in the athletic department."
Both the Chicago State men and women picked up the ITA All-Academic Team honor, which recognizes programs with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
On the men's side, Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/), Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/), Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador/) and Samuel McKinney (St. Charles, Iowa/Interstate 35) were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. For the women, Mia Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas), Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas), Karyn Emeralda (Jakarta, Indonesia/) and Ruta Grinvalde (Cesis, Latvia/) earned the same individual award.
To win the ITA Scholar-Athlete honor student-athletes must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
