Baseball Drops Sunday Finale At Utah Valley

OREM, Utah – Behind a score of 15-3 (seven innings) Chicago State baseball dropped a Great West Conference game to Utah Valley on Sunday (April 28) at Brent Brown Ballpark.
 
Utah Valley opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first. Chicago State scored two runs of their own on three hits in the second to tie the game. Freshman William Munoz (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) doubled to knock in Nathan Poff (Sellersburg, Ind./New Albany). When the ball was misplayed in left junior Dylan Sterrett (Chalmers, Ind./Frontier) came around to score.
 
Utah Valley quickly went back to work with a five spot in the second and opened the game up from there.
 
Chicago State starter sophomore Eric Hall (Oakville, ONT/Oakville Trafalgar) went two innings, allowing seven runs (four earned). His record falls to 1-8. Utah Valley starter Danny Beddes earned the win. He is now 1-2 after allowing three runs (one earned) in 5.0 innings.
 
Munoz had a double, single and two RBI. Freshman Ray Cekus (Chicago, Ill./Taft) singled twice. Senior Eric O'Brien (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) scored a run, singled, was hit by a pitch and added a stolen base.
 
Kai Hatch finished the contest with three RBI for the Wolverines. Riley White had four hits for Utah Valley.
 
Utah Valley improves to 18-21 (9-3 GWC) with the victory. The Cougars fall to 6-30 (3-13 GWC). Chicago State plays at Northwestern on Tuesday in a non-conference contest with the Wildcats. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. CT.
