PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.  – Chicago State University baseball suffered a 6-0 loss to Central Michigan on Saturday (March 9) afternoon in a non-conference contest.

Junior Dylann Sterrett started for the Cougars. He went five innings and took the loss. His record is now 0-4. Senior James Tucker (Gary, Ind./Calumet) allowed just one run in three innings of relief. Pat Kaminska (1-3) earned the win for Central Michigan.

Central Michigan scored two runs in the first inning and the Cougars could never chip at the lead. The Chippewas added one in the fourth, two in the fifth and a final run in the eighth inning.

“We had some hits at the top of the order again and Dylann pitched decent but our defense let us down again,” Chicago State head coach Steve Joslyn said.

Sophomore Mattingly Romanin (Burlington, ONT/Notre Dame) and freshman William Munoz (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) each had two hits for the Cougars.

Chicago State falls to 1-11. Central Michigan improves to 5-8. The Cougars close out their time in Florida on Sunday (March 10) with a single game against Maine.
