PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa.
– Chicago State baseball suffered an 8-2 victory at Big East member Villanova on Friday (March 15) afternoon.

“Not a good approach today at the plate for us,” Chicago State head coach Steve Joslyn said. “One of the most disappointing efforts of the year.”

Chicago State pushed their two runs across in the ninth inning with sophomore Mattingly Romanin (Burlington, ONT/Notre Dame) and senior Eric O'Brien (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) each scoring a run. Romanin extended his hit-streak to seven games. Freshman Julian Russell (Chicago, Ill./Gordon Tech) started his second game of the season in the ninth spot and turned in a pair of hits.

“Julian had a nice approach and it resulted in a nice game for him, Joslyn said.

Sophomore Andrew Wellwerts (Cedar Lake, Ind./Hanover Central) started and took the loss (0-5) after going 2.0 innings. Pat Young (1-1) earned the win for Villanova.
