College Sports Madness All WAC Teams
CHICAGO – Seniors
Matt Ross (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) and
Quinton Pippen (Hamburg, Ark./Hamburg) made the College Sports Madness All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Teams. Ross made the All-WAC Second Team while Pippen made the All-WAC Third Team.
Ross averaged 10.1 points, 6.3 rebounds per game and shot .365 percent from beyond the arc last season which put him on the All-Great West Conference (GWC) Honorable Mention and All-Newcomer teams. Pippen made the All-GWC Second Team and All-Newcomer Team after averaging 10.4 points, 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting .350 percent from three point line.
New Mexico State took two awards with the Preseason Coach of the Year (Marvin Menzies) and Player of the Year (Daniel Mullings). Idaho's Perrion Callandret was named Preseason Freshman of the Year.
Mullings was named to the Preseason All-WAC First Team along with his teammate Sim Bhullar. CSU Bakersfield's Brandon Barnes, Utah Valley's Ben Aird and Holton Hunsaker were also named to the All-WAC First Team.
Joining Ross on the All-WAC Second Team were Nelson Kirksey of Kansas City, K.C Ross-Miller of New Mexico State, Seattle's Isiah Umpig and Stephen Madison of Idaho.
Javante Maynor of CSU Bakersfield, New Mexico State's Tshilidzi Newphawe along with Seattle's Deshaun Sunderhaus and Clarence Trent joined Pippen on the All-WAC Third Team.
Grand Canyon's Killian Larson and Daniel Alexander, Renaldo Dixon of New Mexico State, Kansas City Frank Williams and Connor Hill of Idaho were named to the All-WAC Fourth Team.
The Cougars begin their season on the road against Indiana (Nov. 8) before beginning their home schedule against Urbana (Ohio) (Nov. 9). Their first WAC contest is at Idaho (Jan. 2).Â
