Chicago State's Torrence Johnson Invited to 2026 Silver Waves Media Power Lunch

CHICAGO, Ill. — Chicago State men's basketball assistant coach Torrence Johnson has been invited to the 4th Annual 2026 Silver Waves Media Power Lunch on Thursday, April 2, at IU Indy. The event, which will feature top coaches from across the country who are primed to become future head coaches, recognizes rising leaders and influential voices shaping the next generation of basketball.

A proud Beverly native and Morgan Park High School (MPHS) standout, Johnson has long been connected to Chicago's rich basketball tradition. A 2014 MPHS graduate, he helped lead the Mustangs to back-to-back IHSA Class 3A state championships in 2013 and 2014, cementing his place in one of the city's most successful high school programs.

Johnson continued his playing career collegiately at Northern Arizona University before transferring to Wake Forest University, where he completed his eligibility and later earned his master's degree in May 2020.

His invitation to the Power Lunch highlights both his personal trajectory and the growing national visibility of the Chicago State men's basketball program. Johnson has quickly earned a reputation for his player-development acumen, strong recruiting ties, and ability to connect with student-athletes — qualities that align with the event's focus on emerging coaching talent.
