CHICAGO, Ill. – Chicago State University Head Men's Basketball Coach Landon Bussie has announced the addition of
Morris Scott to the Cougars coaching staff as Assistant Men's Basketball Coach.
Scott brings more than two decades of collegiate coaching experience to Chicago State, including leadership roles at the NCAA Division I, junior college and high school levels. Throughout his career, he has established a reputation as a strong recruiter, player developer and mentor while helping programs achieve success on the court and in the classroom.

"He is a proven coach with an outstanding track record of developing student-athletes, building relationships and recruiting talented players. His experience at every level of college basketball will be a tremendous asset to our program as we continue building toward success."
Scott most recently served as Head Men's Basketball Coach at Chattahoochee Valley Community College, where he managed all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development, budgeting, scheduling, scouting, academic support and team operations. He also served as a Health Science Instructor during his two-year tenure.
Prior to leading Chattahoochee Valley, Scott spent four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Louisiana Monroe, serving as the lead assistant with responsibilities that included recruiting, academics, player development, scouting and scheduling.
Scott also brings extensive championship experience from his seven seasons at Southern University, where he helped guide the Jaguars to two Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament championships, a SWAC regular-season championship and two NCAA Tournament appearances. During his tenure, Southern consistently ranked among the nation's top defensive teams while producing numerous All-Conference performers. He concluded his time at Southern as the program's Interim Head Coach during the 2017-18 season.
His coaching resume also includes stops at Northwestern State, Grambling State, Southeastern Louisiana, Okaloosa-Walton College and Florida A&M, along with successful head coaching stints at the high school level. Throughout his career, Scott has helped develop championship-caliber teams while mentoring student-athletes both on and off the court.
A former standout student-athlete at Florida A&M University, Scott was a team captain, earned Most Outstanding Player honors and helped lead the Rattlers to the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance. He later earned both his bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and his master's degree in Education with a concentration in Sports and Leisure Management from Florida A&M.

Scott has also been actively involved in community outreach throughout his coaching career, participating in youth mentorship initiatives and basketball camps while emphasizing academic achievement and personal growth.
