CHICAGO, Ill. – Chicago State University Head Men's Basketball Coach Landon Bussie has announced the Cougars' 2026-27 schedule, a challenging slate featuring nationally recognized opponents, an extensive road schedule and 16 games in NEC Conference play.
Bussie enters his second season leading the Cougars as Chicago State continues to build its program and compete for an NEC Conference championship.
Chicago State will begin the preseason with a pair of exhibition contests at the Jones Convocation Center, welcoming Saint Xavier on Oct. 21 before hosting Roosevelt University on Oct. 28.
The regular season officially tips off Nov. 2 when the Cougars travel to face Texas, beginning a demanding non-conference schedule that will test Chicago State throughout November and December.
Following the season opener, the Cougars travel to Incarnate Word on Nov. 5 before returning to Chicago for their regular-season home opener against South Carolina State on Nov. 9.
Chicago State then embarks on an extended road stretch beginning Nov. 11 at California Baptist. The Cougars will continue their trip at San Diego on Nov. 13 and Loyola Marymount on Nov. 15 before returning to the Midwest for a Nov. 18 matchup at UIC.
The road slate continues with a Nov. 22 matchup at Marquette, followed by trips to Bradley on Nov. 28 and Evansville on Nov. 30.
Chicago State opens December on the road before returning to Jones Convocation Center to host Illinois State on Dec. 5. The Cougars will then close out their non-conference schedule with road contests at Valparaiso on Dec. 12, South Dakota on Dec. 19, Missouri on Dec. 22 and Northwestern on Dec. 29.
The Cougars begin NEC Conference competition at home on Jan. 2 when Central Connecticut State visits Jones Convocation Center. Chicago State then travels to FDU on Jan. 8 and Wagner on Jan. 10 before returning home for a three-game conference homestand.
Chicago State welcomes LIU on Jan. 13 and New Haven on Jan. 16 before hosting Wagner on Wednesday, Jan. 20, for Education Day at Jones Convocation Center.
Education Day will provide local students, teachers and schools an opportunity to experience Chicago State University and NCAA Division I basketball while supporting the Cougars. Additional information surrounding Education Day will be announced at a later date.
The January home stretch concludes against Stonehill on Jan. 23 before Chicago State travels to Le Moyne on Jan. 28 and Mercyhurst on Jan. 30.
February begins with the Cougars returning home to face FDU on Feb. 6. Chicago State then visits LIU on Feb. 11 and New Haven on Feb. 13 before returning to
Jones Convocation Center for its final two home games of the regular season against Mercyhurst on Feb. 17 and Le Moyne on Feb. 20.
The Cougars close the regular season on the road, traveling to Central Connecticut State on Feb. 24 before facing Stonehill on Feb. 27.
