COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 10 Ohio State defeated Chicago State men's basketball 87-44 on Saturday (Dec. 29) at Value City Arena in a non-conference contest for the Cougars. Chicago State trailed 37-24 at halftime but saw the Buckeyes open the second half on a 10-2 spurt to take control of the contest.

A pair of free throws by junior Nate Duhon (Lansing, Mich./Sexton) (Lansing, Mich./Sexton/Lansing CC) tied the game at 14 just over 10 minutes in to the contest. It would be the final time the game would be tied as Ohio State scored the game's next eight points. The Buckeyes were able to get Chicago State leading scorer senior Jeremy Robinson (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower) (Decatur, Ill/Eisenhower/Iowa Western CC) in foul trouble after Robinson was whistled for a pair of fouls less than three minutes into the contest.

The Cougars were led offensively by junior Quinton Pippen (Hamburg, Ark./Hamburg) (Hamburg, Ark./Hamburg/Missouri State-West Plains CC) and his 12 points. Duhon added nine points, thanks to going 7-for-7 from the free throw line.

“This is one of those games where you burn the tape,” Chicago State head coach Tracy Dildy said. “They are ranked 10th in the nation for a reason and we saw one of their better games and one of our not so better games today.”

Ohio State's Deshaun Thomas led all scorers with 17 points.

Ohio State improves to 10-2. Chicago State falls to 3-12. The Cougars travel to Toledo on Monday for a New Years Eve contest with the Rockets. Tip is set for 1 p.m. CT.
