EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Evansville swept a twinbill from Chicago State, winning the first game 8-3, and taking the nightcap 15-6, Sunday at Braun Stadium in Evansville, Ind.
CSU falls to 7-41 on the season, while the Purple Aces improve to 13-35.

Michael Carpen (Whiting, IN/Clark) who singled leading off the inning and a RBI single by
Jonathan Wilson (Vallejo, CA/Napa Valley CC) bringing home
Kellon McFarlin (Chicago, IL/Meramec CC) who reached on a fielders choice.
Evansville took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second inning, highlighted by a two-run homerun by Peter Tountas.
The Purple Aces would add to the lead making the score 4-2 after four innings.
Chicago State made it a one run game when Carpin scored on a throwing error by Kapteyn.
UE added two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to close out the scoring and take the first game of the double header 8-3.
Josh Appelbaum (Chicago, IL/Florida Gulf Coast) (1-10) took the loss for the Cougars, pitching 4.1 innings, allowing nine hits, five earned runs, while striking out two.
Carpen continued his hot hitting going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
In the nightcap, the Purple Aces bats exploded scoring 15 runs on 18 hits, leading them to the doubleheader sweep 15-6.
Going into the top of the fifth inning down 4-1 the Cougars battled back with three runs on two hits while also being assisted by an UE error to tie the game at 4-4.
Evansville responded in the bottom half of the fifth, scoring eight runs on seven hits, while knocking CSU starter
Robert Vargas (Alhambra, CA/Alhambra HS) out the game.
Willson homered in the top of the seventh to close out the scoring for the Cougars.
Vargas pitched 4.2 innings, allowed 15 hits and 12 runs while striking out three in the loss.
Carpen had another stellar performance at the plate going 3-for-3 with two runs scored bringing his batting average up to .349 for the season.
Chicago State will return to the diamond on Tuesday, May 6, when the travel north to take on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
