INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Chicago State triathlon competed at the 2026 Greyhound Splash & Dash, with the Cougars placing three runners in the field.
Melaika Russell led the way for Chicago State, finishing 21st overall with a time of 34:22. Russell posted a 6:57 opening leg before completing the remainder of the race in 27:25.
Shaina Whitt followed closely behind Russell, placing 22nd with a final time of 34:28. Whitt recorded a 7:11 opening leg and finished the remainder of the race in 27:17.
Jalyn Long rounded out Chicago State's finishers, placing 26th with a time of 48:04. Long recorded a 10:00 opening leg before finishing the remaining portion in 38:04.
Chicago State finished with 12 team points in the team standings. UIndy claimed the team title with 106 points, followed by Trine with 100 points and Northern Kentucky with 70 points.
The Cougars will continue their season with another opportunity to compete at the Mississinewa Triathlon in Peru, Ind. on September 12th and build on their performance.
