Chicago State Women’s Triathlon Makes Strong Showing at Prairie State Cup

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Chicago State Cougars brought energy and determination to Clinton Lake SRA for the 2025 Prairie State Cup, competing in the Sprint Triathlon against a deep field of collegiate talent. With over 120 athletes in the race, the Cougars held their own and proudly represented the green and black.

Leading the charge for Chicago State was Melaika Russell, who crossed the finish line in 70th place with 46 points. Her performance capped off a gritty effort through the swim, bike, and run segments, showcasing his endurance and competitive spirit.

Jasmine Cruz also put in a solid race, finishing 109th and contributing to the team's overall presence and with 12 points. Rounding out the scoring for the Cougars was Jalyn Long who secured 11 points.

This race was a great opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best programs in the region, and we're proud of how our team competed.
