Fort Worth, Texas — The Chicago State University women's triathlon team showcased determination and steady progress at the 2025 Women's Collegiate Triathlon, competing against a deep field of programs from across all NCAA divisions.
First-year competitor
Melaika Russell led the way for the Cougars, completing the sprint-distance course with a strong time of
1:25:43, marking another step forward in her collegiate debut season. Russell showed balance across all three disciplines, finishing the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, and 5-kilometer run with a composed and consistent effort.
Teammate
Jasmine Cruz also represented Chicago State, putting forth a valiant effort through the swim and bike segments before being unable to complete the race, continuing to gain valuable experience at the national level of collegiate triathlon competition.
The Cougars' appearance at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon marks another milestone in the young program's journey, as Chicago State continues to expand its presence within the NCAA triathlon landscape.
