The Chicago State women's triathlon team continued its program-building journey with strong efforts at the Trine Splash and Dash this past weekend. Competing in a competitive field of NCAA programs, the Cougars showcased determination and growth across the swim, transition, and run segments.
Melaika Russell led the way for CSU, completing the event in
31:39 with steady pacing in both the swim and run to secure a top-20 finish. Teammates
Jasmine Cruz and
Jalyn Long followed with gritty performances that underscored the squad's commitment to improvement and team development. Cruz crossed the line in
45:25, while Long battled through to complete her race in
1:01:59, showing impressive perseverance.
As the Cougars continue their fall schedule, the Splash and Dash provided another important step forward for the young program. The experience gained against established programs will serve as valuable preparation for the rest of the season as Chicago State continues to build momentum and set the foundation for future success.
