Peru, Ind. — The Chicago State University women's triathlon team competed at the Mississinewa Triathlon on Saturday, with four Cougars taking on the NCAA Women's Triathlon Sprint.
Melaika Russell led the way for Chicago State, finishing 26th overall with a time of 1:27:39. Russell completed the swim in 17:13, followed by a 39:05 bike split and a 30:14 run.
Shaina Whitt finished 28th overall, crossing the finish line in 1:34:50. Whitt recorded a 18:28 swim, 45:43 bike split and 28:52 run.
Jasmine Cruz followed in 29th place with a time of 1:43:04. Cruz posted a 22:14 swim, 49:20 bike split and 29:57 run.
Jalyn Long rounded out the Chicago State competitors, finishing 31st overall in 2:03:49. Long recorded a 31:29 swim, 52:45 bike split and 36:06 run.
The Cougars will look to build on Saturday's performances as they continue their 2026 season.
