TERRE HAUTE, IN. - The Chicago State track & field team wrapped up competition at the Sycamore Open with several standout performances, highlighted by a school record from
Katherine Thornton. Thornton placed third in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 14.05 before returning to win the women's 400m hurdles in a school-record time of 1:01.49. The 400 meter hurdles conference champion orginally broke the school eariler this season and now improves on her record time.
In the field events, Makiyah Brewton claimed first place in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.70m, while Luciana Rojas finished fifth in the women's triple jump at 10.98m.
On the men's side, Jacob Draaisma earned a first-place finish in the men's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:31.25. Skylar McGhee added a third-place performance in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.73m.
