Chicago State Track & Field Closes Drake Relays and UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative

DES MOINES, Iowa - Chicago State track & field wrapped up a split-squad weekend on Saturday, April 25, competing at both the Drake Relays and the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative with strong performances across the board.

At the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, the Cougars went up against elite Division I competition and turned in a standout relay performance. The men's 4x400m relay team of Nasir Ali, Kai Sheridan, Clifton Martin, and Maichael Rabogo placed fifth in the university division with a time of 3:15.15, finishing among the top teams in a highly competitive field.

In the field events, Skylar McGhee led the way in the men's long jump, placing 15th with a mark of 6.81 meters, while Eric Sanchez followed in 17th at 6.64 meters as both competed against a deep field of jumpers.

Meanwhile, another group of Cougars competed at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative in Whitewater, Wisconsin, where several athletes turned in strong individual efforts.

Faustin Kaseba highlighted the day with a second-place finish in the men's 110m hurdles, clocking 14.28. Clifton Martin added a performance in the men's 400m, finishing 15th in 53.08. In the field events, Kendrick Scott placed 10th in the men's discus with a throw of 43.84 meters, while also recording a mark of 14.45 meters in the shot put. On the women's side, Bryanna Boroze posted a solid throw of 13.06 meters in the shot put.

The Chicago State men's & women's track and field teams will now shift focus to the postseason as they travel to New Britian, Connecticut for the 2026 NEC Outdoor Championships from Central Connecticut State University.
