CHICAGO, Ill. - The Chicago State men's track & field team concluded the indoor regular season at Day Two of the Windy City Invite hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The Cougars had a handful of competitors on the afternoon as they make final preparations for the NEC Indoor Championships.
The Cougars competed in three field events on the afternoon. In the high jump
Earnest Davenport finished seventh with a leap of 2.03m. Davenport will take the second best mark in the NEC to the Indoor Championships. In the shot put
Kendrick Scott set a personal best with a throw of 14.78m to finish seventh.
Elijah Gibbs finished eighth with a 13.82m. Finally,
Nickolas Grigsby finished 11th with a 12.60m toss. In the triple jump, freshman jumpers
Xavier Beatty and
Khalis Reyes had a good day on the runway. Beatty leaped a 14.42m mark for a fifth place finish while Reyes leaped 13.77m to finish sixth.
Xavier Beatty will take the third further mark into the NEC Championships.
On the track,
Eric Sanchez competed in the 200 meter dash and finished 16th with a 22.22. Finally, freshman hurdler
Faustin Kaseba made noise in the 60 meter hurdles by setting a personal best in the event with an 8.08 to finish seventh. Kaseba who leads the NEC in the event, increases his lead by nearly two tenths to take a commanding lead in the event to carry into the NEC Championships next weekend.
