CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago State men's track and field had five athletes represent the Cougars at Day One of the Windy City Invite on Friday.
Skylar McGhee,
Lucas Polkinghorn,
Nasir Ali,
Nickolas Grigsby, and
Joshua Keaton opened the competing for Chicago State.
Polkinghorn, Keaton and Grigsby opened the Cougars weekend. Polkinghorn competed in the long jump open with Keaton and Grigsby competing in the weight throw invite competition. Polkinghorn leaped a 6.73m jump to finish fourth in the long jump. Keaton made the final to earn three more throws in the weight throw and finished ninth with a 14.34m throw.
Nickolas Grigsby threw a 13.50m to finish just behind his teammate in tenth. Skyler McGhee finished sixth in a stacked long jump invite competition with a 7.11m on her sixth and final attempt to achieve a seasons best. McGhee was the only jumper to achieve a clean card on the night not having scratches on any attempt through the competition.
On the track,
Nasir Ali ran in the 400 meter dash open event and finished ninth with a new personal best time of 49.17.
