Chicago State Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Teams Compete at NEC Outdoor Championships

NORTH EASTON, Mass. – The Chicago State University women's and men's track teams finished fifth and sixth overall at the 2025 Northeast Conference Outdoor Championships at W.B. Mason Stadium held May 3-4 hosted by Stonehill College.

The Chicago State University men's team finished with a team score of 87 points and the women's team finishing with a team score of 110 points respectively. 

Rikki Gray earned the title of NEC Champion in two individual events. Gray captured the 200 meters with a time of 24.40 and the 400 meters with a time of 54.87.
 
Latonia Johnson, Myshell Hurse, Queanna Taylor and Sanna Parker secured the top spot in the Women's 4x100m relay with a time of 45.71. Myshell Hurse, Rachel Whyte, Rikki Gray and Sanna Parker finished first in the Women's 4x400m relay securing a time of 3:47.70.

Queanna Taylor took second place in the Women's 100 meters with a 11.93 effort. Latonia Johnson finished with a  time of 12.01.Janiya Lucas finished in eighth place with a time of 12.40.  In the Women's 200 meters Latonia Jonson finished in second place with a time of 24.63. Rachel Whyte secured the third place finish with a time of 24.68. Sanna Parker finished in fifth place with a time of 24.77.  Myshell Hurse secured sixth place with a time of 24.80. Queanna Taylor finished in seventh place with a time of 24.83. 
 
In the Women's 400 meters Sanna Parker and Myshell Hurse finished in third and eighth place respectively. Ceegan Atkins finished fifth in the Women's 100m hurdles with a time of 14.96. 
 
Weronika Stanczak, Zearra Milburn, Azaria Austin and Caren Tarus finished the Women's 4x800m relay with a seventh place with a time of 10:44.54. 
 
Lena Cleveland secured the top spot in the Women's Long Jump with a 5.80 mark. Sanaya Ross secured the eighth place finish with a 5.32 mark. Cleveland also placed sixth in the triple jump with a 11.64 mark. 
 
Teammate Taylor Norris placed tenth in the Women's shot put with a 10.17 mark. Norris also placed twelfth in the Women's Javelin. Jasmine Cruz placed fourteenth in the Women's hammer with a 24.60 mark.
 

On the men's side Trevon Prince secured the NEC Champion Title taking first place in the 800m run with a time of 1:53.20.

Raymond Oriakhi was crowed as champion of the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 13.95. In the same event Mychah Spells finished in third place with a time of 13.95. Teammates Ishan Cooper and Jerrick Kelley finished in fourth and seventh place. 


Matthew Brooks, Skyler McGhee, Eric Sanchez and Kai Sheridan finished fifth in the Men's 4x100 relay. Dennis Kirui secured the eighth place finish in the Men's 1500 meters with a time of 3:57.72. 
 
Teammate Collins Kuyo competed in the Men's 5000 meters securing the fifteenth place finish with a time of 16:08.02. In the Men's long jump Earnest Davenport led the Cougars with a third place finish with a 1.99 mark. Skyler McGhee also competed and finished with a 1.83 mark. 
 
Nikai McNee collected a sixth place finish in the Men's triple jump with a 13.98 mark. Skyler McGhee secured a tenth place finish with a 13.12 mark. Corey Dickson competed in the Men's javelin and recorded a 15.60 mark. 
 
Closing out the events for CSU was Matthew Brooks, Raymond Oriakhi, Kai Sheridan and Trevon Prince who all finished third in  the Men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:16.56.
