Oriakhi, Sanchez and Cleveland Win Major Awards with Eleven Cougars Named to the All-NEC and All-Rookie Teams

Bridgewater, NJ —  The Northeast Conference announced their All-NEC Awards for the 2025 outdoor track and field season on Thursday afternoon. The Chicago State Cougars were represented with four major award winners, and 11 All-NEC selections.

The Cougars were highlighted by Raymond Oriakhi, Eric Sanchez, and Lena Cleveland, who all took home major awards. Oriakhi was named the Most Valuable Performer, Men's Most Outstanding Track Performer (Sprints), following a dominant NEC Championships performance that saw him win the 110 hurdles, as well as medal in the 400m hurdles.

Sanchez was named the Co-Most Outstanding Field Performer (Jumps). Sanchez secured a 7.21m mark at the 2025 NEC Outdoor Championships, in the long jump winning the gold medal.

Lena Cleveland was named the Women's Most Outstanding Field Performer (Jumps) where she left her mark in the long jump securing a 5.80 m mark.

Oriakhi, Sanchez and Cleveland were also named to the All-NEC First Team. Oriakhi received the selection in the 110 hurdles and the 400m hurdles, Sanchez and Cleveland received the selection in the long jump. Sanchez was also named to the NEC All-Rookie Team in the long jump.

Several other Cougars received All-NEC honors. Queanna Taylor and Latonia Johnson were named to both the All-NEC Second Team and the NEC All-Rookie Team in the 100m and 200m.

Trevon Prince was named to the All-NEC First Team in the 800m. Prince placed first at the 2025 NEC Outdoor Championships with a time of 1:53.20.
 
Skyler McGhee was names to the All-NEC Second Team in the long jump, posting a 7.15m mark.


Rikki Gray received All-NEC First Team honors in the women's 200m and 400m, posting a time of 24.40 and 54.87 respectively.

The CSU 4x100m relay team (Latonia Johnson, Myshell Hurse, Queanna Taylor and Rachel Whyte) was named to the NEC All-First team finishing with a time of 45.71.
 
The CSU 4x400m relay team (Myshell Hurse, Rachel Whyte, Rikki Gray and Sannaa Parker)  was named to the NEC All-First team finishing with a time of 3:47.70.
