Ann Arbor– Four members of the Chicago State track and field program competed in the Silverston Invitational hosted by University of Michigan. Two Cougars,
Lena Cleveland and
Jaden Laster hail from Southfield and Detroit respectively, return to their home state to compete in front of family and friends.
Senior
Raymond Oriakhi led the Cougars with a first-place finish. Breaking the Chicago State school record for the 60-meter hurdles for the fourth time this season and twice in a single day. Going into today's event, Oriakhi, the current record holder, had a personal best of 7.93 seconds. In the preliminary heat, he clocked 7.91 seconds, and in the final, he improved further, winning the meet with a time of 7.90 seconds.
Freshman
Lena Cleveland, competing in the long jump finish the meet in fourth place recording a jump of 5.44m.
Jaden Laster recorded his personal best time in the 400 with a time of 53.09. Also participating in the 400 meter dash was Freshman
Azaria Austin.

Chicago State University, a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI), has received an invitation to compete in the HBCU National Indoor Track & Field Championship on March 8 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Tennessee. The event will bring together talented athletes from Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
