CHICAGO- The Chicago State Cougars had a great showing at the HBCU showcase on Saturday January 18 at the historic Armory in New York City. On the day, the Cougars posted 15 top-10 finishes.
Raymond Oriakhi was a highlight posting a third-place finish in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.04 and adding a fifth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 21.85.
For the women, Rachel Whyte nabbed a top -ive finish in the 200m as well running a 24.7, while Sanaa Parker was just outside the top 10 in the 400 with a 57.69 good enough for 11th place.
The men's 500m featured three-top 10 finishers, lead by Kai Sheridan took fourth with a time of 1.07.78, followed by teammates Jaden Laster in sixth place (1:12.13) and Corey Dickson in seventh (1:13.92). In the mid-distance Trevon Prince ran a 1:55. 06 for a fifth-place finish
In the triple jump Ernest Davenport led a trio of Cougars, placing fifth with a distance of 1.95m while Eric Sanchez led the way in the long jump with a jump of 6.90m good for eighth place.
Nikai McNee added a new mark in the triple jump with a jump of 14.56m, which ranks No. 85 in Division 1 in 2025, while both 4x400m relay teams placed fourth and set new marks. The men's team ran a 3:18.80 while the women ran a 3:53.31, both times in the top 100 of all Division I in 2025.
