STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — In their first round of play at the Women's Collegiate Golf Championship, the Chicago State women's golf team logged a fifth-place finish, shooting a 337. The Cougars sit ahead of four teams — and behind four — in the nine-team field. Koranis Boonmadee, who shot 81, and Montserrat Ramirez Bayardo, at 83, both posted top-14 rounds.
The annual Women's Collegiate Golf Championship serves as the flagship fundraising event for the Women in Golf Foundation, which just celebrated its 26th year. The nine-team field competes for the Renee Powell Cup, which honors Renee Powell, the second Black woman ever to play on the LPGA Tour.

During that same season, three different CSU teams earned victories over Big Ten opponents with men's soccer beating Northwestern, women's basketball upending Wisconsin and volleyball, which established a school record 17 wins and hosted a post-season volleyball tournament for the first time in program history, swept Indiana in Bloomington.
