Reid-Stephen playing for Barbados, joins Cougars this Fall

2021 Chicago State commit Niall Reid-Stephen is starting for Barbados in a 2022 FIFA World Cup-qualifying match against Panama Thursday evening.

The match begins at 7:00 p.m. CT at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

"This is really cool," head men's soccer coach Trevor Banks said. "I can't even describe how happy I am. It shows his consistency and professionalism to be in a position to start in a match like this. He's a tremendous player, and I'm so excited for him."

Reid-Stephen, a 19-year-old midfielder, plays for UWI Blackbirds FC of the Barbados Premier League. He has previously competed for the Barbados under-17  and under-20 squads.

Now, the future Chicago State Cougar is starting for his National Team in a World Cup qualifier.

"It's very exciting to watch someone who I recruited be able to start in a match of this magnitude," Banks said. "It shows the quality of the players we're bringing in."

The match will be carried on UNIVERSO NOW, Telemundo Deportes En Vivo and Paramount+.
