Chicago State University Announces Hiring of Matthew Conti as Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach

CHICAGO, Ill. — Chicago State University Athletics has announced the hiring of Matthew Conti as the new Assistant Coach for the men's soccer program. Conti joins the Cougars with a strong background in player development, academy leadership, and high-level competitive experience across the youth, collegiate, and USL2 levels.

Conti most recently served as Head Academy Coach and South Side Program Director at Chicago City Soccer Club, where he led teams across multiple age groups and formats while building a new community-based soccer program in Hyde Park. "Responsible for coaching various Academy teams from 7v7 through 11v11" and having "built a brand new community soccer program based in Hyde Park," Conti played a central role in expanding the club's footprint and elevating its player-development model.

Before joining Chicago City SC, Conti worked as a Head Trainer at TOCA Football in Evanston, where he designed individualized training plans for elite youth and senior players.
Conti also brings competitive playing experience, having spent two seasons with Chicago City SC's USL2 team, where he transitioned into a player/coach role during his second year.

A former standout at Elmhurst University, Conti appeared in every match during his collegiate career, starting 60% of them. He studied International Business while competing for the Bluejays.

Conti holds a USSF D License  and a UEFA C License, and has earned multiple coaching honors, including Coach of the Year (2023), Trainer of the Year (2024), and Most Improved Coach (2025).

"We are thrilled to welcome Matthew to Chicago State," said Head Men's Soccer Coach Norris Howze staff. "His experience across academy, club, and USL2 environment combined with his proven ability to develop players and build programs makes him an exceptional addition to our coaching team."

Conti will begin his role immediately as the Cougars prepare for the upcoming season.
