Box Score CHICAGO – The Chicago men's basketball team dropped a 71-49 contest to defending WAC Champion New Mexico State on Thursday night.
Andrew Lewis (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee Vincent H.S.) led the way with a team-best 12 points while
Solomon Hunt (Pomona, Calif./Upland H.S.) added six rebounds.
The contest was very close in the first half. The Aggies jumped out to a 5-0 lead but the Cougars battled back to tie the game at the 13:17 mark behind buckets from Hunt and
Amir Gholizadeh (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Toronto Basketball Academy). The Aggies used buckets from Shawn Williams and Ivan Aurrecoechea to take a six-point lead but midway through the half.
The Cougars were able to get it as close as one point, 16-15, on a bucket from hunt and a pair from
Kalil Whitehead (Detroit, Mich./Cass Technical). The Aggies then went on a 18-2 run and took a 34-17 lead at the break.
New Mexico State was able to capitalize on Chicago State miscues and scored 29 points off turnovers and 13 on fastbreaks.
Despite keeping the game close in the first half, the Cougars wouldn't get as close again as the Aggies maintained a lead throughout the remainder of the contest en route to the victory

The Cougars will stay at home as they host UT-Rio Grande Valley on Saturday at 12:05 pm at the JCC.
