On the heels of back-to-back 20-point performances, Johnson then splashed in his second three-pointer. 90 seconds later, the senior threaded in a picture-perfect bounce pass to a cutting Rushin, who sunk a layup at the first-half buzzer.
Through 20 minutes, the Cougars trailed, 47-29. Rushin's 12 points led all scorers at the time.
Drake then emerged from the locker room and outscored Chicago State, 18-10, over the first five minutes to take a 65-39 lead. Over the subsequent stretch, Drake poured in 11 more points but Johnson nailed his fourth three of the contest entering the under-12 timeout.
In his homecoming, Des Moines-native
