CHICAGO, Ill- Freshman Maria Fernanda Lopez Torres-Tapia will miss the first couple of weeks of school and volleyball season because she will represent her home country Peru in the Volleyball World Cup U18 in Cairo, Egypt early September. Torres-Tapia is a 6'0 freshman middle blocker from Lima, Peru. Torres is the youngest player on her team at the age of 17. "It is an honor to represent my country in the World Cup Games, I have worked for five years for this moment," stated Torres-Tapia. She is a starter and statistic leader for the Peruvian team. Coach Reeves says, "This will be one of the most decorated players in CSU history, and we have four years with her, She will be an instant game-changer for CSU Volleyball. I am so excited about my team potential this year." Torres-Tapia first match will September 17, 2019, as they travel to crosstown rivals UIC.
