EASTON, Mass. — Chicago State volleyball showed resilience on the road Saturday afternoon, pushing Stonehill in a competitive four-set match before ultimately falling 3-1 (18-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-25) at Merkert Gymnasium.
The Cougars came out strong in the opening frame, hitting an impressive .238 as a team and controlling the tempo behind balanced offensive production.
Leah Linares Castro led the attack with 14 kills and 11 digs for her seventh double-double of the season, while
Zeynep Ertam added 10 kills and a team-high five blocks at the net.
Alyssa Ferreira anchored the back row with 18 digs and contributed a pair of service aces, while
Nayella George chipped in nine kills and three blocks to pace the front line. Setter
Vasiliki Dagre kept the offense flowing with 38 assists and added nine digs.
As a team, Chicago State tallied 11 total blocks and 47 kills on a .280 hitting percentage, showing continued improvement in offensive rhythm and defensive intensity.
Head coach Kamille Jones praised his team's effort:
"We played with great energy and composure on the road. There were a lot of bright spots in our serve and block game, and we're continuing to build momentum as we close out the season."
The Cougars return home to host Saint Francis University in its home season finale on November 7-8 inside the Jacoby Dickens Center.
