Delshon Strickland scored 17 points in WAC play vs Seattle
SEATTLE, Wash.—The Chicago State Cougars (3-24) fell to the Seattle Redhawks (15-12) on Saturday in WAC play at the Redhawk Center, 57-77.

Delshon Strickland (Minneapolis, Minn., Minnetonka) paced the Cougars with 17 points and went 3-3 in free throws. Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind., Griffith (Ind.)) went 5-7 for 13 points and 2-2 for free throws. Rob Shaw (Louisville, Ky., St. Xavier) scored 12 points and went 2-2 behind the line.

Rob Shaw (Louisville, Ky., St. Xavier) put CSU on the board with a lay-up to start off the game. Shaw answers back to a Redhawk layup with a jumper. A steal by Cameron Bowles (Chicago, Ill., Kenwood) resulted in a 3 from Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind., Griffith (Ind.)), widening the margin by 6 at 10-4. Unfortunately, Seattle worked the small game and tied the score. As the Redhawks gained momentum, CSU was unable to manage the lead for the rest of the half. However, Delshon Strickland (Minneapolis, Minn., Minnetonka) drained three free throws then hit a lay-up to bring the Cougars within 2.

The Cougars were 100% from behind the free throw line in the first half compared to Seattle's 33.3%.  Even though Seattle held the Cougars from scoring for the majority of the remainder of the half, Chicago State managed to narrow the deficit by half-time, 27-33, with a lay-up by Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind., Griffith (Ind.))

In the second half, Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind., Griffith (Ind.)) scored with another lay up in the paint, then Delshon Strickland (Minneapolis, Minn., Minnetonka) hit two back to back shots to force the Redhawks lead to two. However, the Cougars' aggressive defense and missed shots helped the Redhawks drive up their score. Seattle's fast break offensive strategy outnumbered the Cougars 9-4.

Despite Chicago State matching Seattle in points in the paint at 12 in the second half, totaling 24 vs Seattle's 26, Chicago State would lose 57-77.

Terrell Brown led the Seattle Redhawks with a game high of 20 points, going 9-13, while Morgan Means went 4-10 with 12 points.

The Cougars are back in action this Thursday vs UT Rio Grande Valley in the Jones Convocation Center at 7:05 p.m.
