UMass Game Notes

CHICAGO -

Opening Kickoff – The Chicago State women's soccer team makes its first-ever trek out to the east coast tomorrow as it will take on UMass at Rudd Field in Amherst, Mass., beginning at 12 p.m.

Scouting CSU – The Green and White head into tomorrow's contest with a record of 0-4-1 and look to break a four-game losing streak. Last week, CSU opened its home schedule at Brooks Field with losses to in-state opponents SIU Edwardsville (1-6) and Eastern Illinois (0-2). The Cougars are led offensively by freshman forward/midfielder Marissa Beale (Frazier Park, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) as she has tallied two goals and four points. Senior goalkeeper Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) ranks second in the Western Athletic Conference with 35 saves in addition to posting a .729 save percentage.

Scouting UMASS – UMass returns to Rudd Field with a 3-2 season record after capturing its second straight victory via a 3-0 shutout win at Delaware last Sunday. The top scorer for the Minutewomen is senior forward Erin Doster as she has posted seven points on three assists and two goals followed by freshman forward Lauren Bonavita with five points thanks to scoring two goals and an assist. In goal, Peyton Ryan holds a 0.66 goals-against-average, 15 saves and an .833 save percentage for UMass.

Series History – Friday's contest marks the first-ever meeting between Chicago State and UMass on the soccer field while the Cougars will also face their first opponent from the Atlantic 10 Conference in school history.

Moving on Up in WAC's Record Book – Wisehart looks to finish off her collegiate career as one of the top goalkeepers in the WAC in terms of saves. Heading into tomorrow's game, Wisehart has produced 354 career saves, including 35 this season, to sit in seventh place among the league's all-time leaders. She needs 10 saves to surpass former San Jose State goalie Amee Brown (1996-99) for sixth place on the list.

International Flavor - The Green and White have brought some international flavor to this year's squad with nine players hailing from five countries: Brazil (3), Spain (2), England (1), Australia (1), Hungary (1) and Canada (1).

Up Next – CSU returns to Gwendolyn Brooks H.S. Field for another in-state battle on Friday, Sept. 14 when it takes on Western Illinois starting at 1 p.m.
