Purdue Fort Wayne Game Notes

CHICAGO -

Opening Kickoff – Chicago State women's soccer concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule Saturday in Fort Wayne, Ind., as it takes on host Purdue Fort Wayne at the Hefner Soccer Complex with a start time of 2 p.m., central time.

Scouting CSU – Chicago State brings a 0-7-1 season record into Fort Wayne following a pair of losses last week to Western Illinois (3-5) at home and on the road at Indiana State (0-8). The Green and White are led offensively by freshman forward/midfielder Marissa Beale (Frazier Park, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) and junior midfielder/forward Sara Quevedo (Lomo Blanco, Spain) with both players scoring six points. Beale has tallied a team-best three goals while Quevedo leads the team with two assists to go along with scoring two goals. Senior goalkeeper Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron), who now ranks in a tie for fourth on the all-time WAC saves list, has recorded team highs of 54 saves and a .694 save percentage in four starts this season.

Scouting the Mastodons – Purdue Fort Wayne holds a 2-4-3 record on the season heading into Saturday's contest after extending its unbeaten streak to three games last Friday with 2-2 tie at Evansville. Leading the Mastodons on the offensive end is freshman forward Kayla Wisniewski as she has tallied a team-best five points on two goals and an assist this year. Senior forward Deanna Hecht and junior midfielder Kendall Quinn are tied with Wisniewski for the team lead in goals scored with two, while junior midfielder/forward Hannah Kroger has dished out a team-high three assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Lorah Pund is the team leader with a 2-2-1 record, 26 saves and a .743 save percentage.

Series History – This will be the first-ever meeting between Chicago State and Purdue Fort Wayne on the soccer field. The Mastodons are the second Summit League team that CSU has faced this season with WIU on being the first on last Friday.

Moving on Up in WAC Record Book – Wisehart looks to finish off her collegiate career as one of the top goalkeepers in the WAC in terms of saves. Heading into tomorrow's game, Wisehart has produced 373 career saves, including 54 this season, to sit in a tie for fourth place among the league's all-time leaders with former Utah netminder Tawni Martineau (1995-98). She is now 31 saves shy of surpassing former Nevada goalie Megan Tarpenning (2002-05) for third place on the list.

Something in Common – Besides Western Illinois, CSU and Purdue Fort Wayne have four other common opponents this season in Eastern Illinois, Indiana State, Loyola and Youngstown State.

Up Next – CSU returns to Gwendolyn Brooks High School Field next week to open Western Athletic Conference play beginning Friday, Sept. 28 against CSU Bakersfield with the opening kickoff set for 1 p.m., central time.
