OPENING TIP: The Chicago State men's basketball team hosts Western Athletic Conference rival UMKC tomorrow afternoon for senior day at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center in a live broadcast on the WAC Digital Network beginning at 4:35 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU: CSU heads into its season finale after closing its final road swing last Saturday with an 83-75 defeat at UT Rio Grande Valley and is looking to build some momentum for the WAC Tournament. Junior guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) is scoring a team-leading average of 14.2 points per game to lead three Cougar players in double figures. Senior forward/center Deionte Simmons (Detroit, Mich./Lewisville (Texas)) leads the team in rebounds at 5.8 rebounds a game to go along with scoring 11.5 points per contest and shooting 60 percent (104-of-174) from the field. The final player scoring a double-digit average is senior guard Glen Burns (West Memphis, Ark./West Memphis Christian) with an average of 10.2 points a game. Burns is also averaging team highs of 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game on the season.

SCOUTING UMKC: In the finale of its last road swing of the season, UMKC heads into tomorrow's battle with CSU sporting a 10-20 season record and is 5-8 against WAC opponents. The Kangaroos posted a split last week on the road thanks to an 83-59 win at UT Rio Grande Valley followed by an 82-58 defeat at league-leading New Mexico State. Four players are averaging double figure scoring for UMKC with sophomore guard Xavier Bishop and senior guard Broderick Robinson tying for top team honors at 11.5 points per game. Robinson is producing team highs of 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, and Bishop is averaging 3.2 assists a game. Sophomore guard Isaiah Ross (10.7 ppg) and sophomore forward Jordan Giles (10.4 ppg) are also scoring in double figures.

SERIES HISTORY: UMKC holds a 32-11 series lead with Chicago State that includes a 7-2 record over the past four seasons with wins over the last five straight games. In the teams' first meeting at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City on Feb. 15, the Kangaroos posted a 76-67 victory despite Simmons recording a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds for CSU.

SENIOR DAY: Tomorrow's contest serves as the final home game at the Jones Convocation Center for redshirt senior forward Jelani Pruitt (Gary, Ind./Merrillville (Ind.)), senior guard/forward Alex Dubovitskiy (Moscow, Russia/Marianapolis Preparatory School), senior guard Montana Byrd (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel), Simmons and Burns. All five seniors will be honored in a senior day ceremony before the game.

UP NEXT: The Cougars open WAC Tournament play on March 8 against New Mexico State in a quarterfinal showdown at Orleans Arena live on ESPN 3 with the opening tip set for 8 p.m.
