Women’s Golf Competes at Don Benbow Invite in Florida

Felicia Davenport finished in a tie for 22nd place at the Don Benbow Invitational
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Chicago State women's golf competed well in the first of two tournaments here this week with Butler's Don Benbow Invitational at the Blue Sky Golf Club.
 
The Green and White posted a ninth-place finish over the tournament after producing a two-round score of 687 (349-338) and finished 30 strokes ahead of Quinnipiac. St. John's shot a 606 (306-300) to finish six strokes ahead of the Bulldogs for the team title.
 
Junior Felicia Davenport (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) recorded a score of 161 (83-78) to lead the Cougars by finishing in a tie for 22nd place with Lehigh's Megan Moylan.
 
Freshman Hansika Tathgur (Brampton, Ont./David Suzuki Secondary) placed in a tie for 30th with Cameron Little of The Citadel after posting a score of 164 (81-83), while fellow freshman Darinka Velazquez (Puerto Vallarta, Mexico/British American School) shot a 170 (92-78) to finish tied for 39th place.
 
Freshman Adriana Gonzalez (McAllen, Texas/McAllen Memorial) and senior Katie Verheyen (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) also competed for the Cougars in the tournament.
 
CSU continues its week-long trek through Jacksonville with the Butler Spring Invitational that takes place on Wednesday and Thursday.
